Our client provides structural engineering services to a broad range of
UK and International clients throughout a wide range of sectors. Their
current workload includes projects in leisure, residential, commercial,
industrial, health and retail sectors. Project values range from £1M to
£100M and recent projects include a variety of multi-storey residential
buildings, major retail projects and manufacturing facilities for a blue

Working on varied and challenging projects, the successful candidate
will use their extensive UK experience to design and manage projects
through to completion. Their role will encompass technical design,
client communication (including client presentations as required),
project delivery and team management. They will be responsible for
producing cost effective solutions to engineering problems and show a
willingness to share past experience with other members of the team. The
successful candidate will be making a valued contribution to the success
of the team through their interaction within the organization and their
professional approach with clients.
The successful candidate will have planned and designed a variety of
building structures involving a variety of material, they will be able
to take ownership of projects and show the potential to lead our
client’s involvement in multi-disciplinary projects. They will be able
to demonstrate a thorough approach to engineering solutions and a high
level of problem-solving skills incorporating lateral thinking patterns.
They will need to have strong interpersonal skills and an aptitude for
motivating team members and building good client relationships.
Excellent communication and report writing skills are therefore a must.
Preference will be given to engineers who have already achieved
Chartership, but those who have not will be considered, and if
successful, will be helped towards gaining that Chartered status.

Engineer - Tyne and Wear - Ref: BCJ0739
An excellent opportunity for a Graduate Structural Design Engineer in
Tyne and Wear. Our client is offering an opportunity for a Graduate
Structural Design Engineer to grow and develop in a fast-paced
professional environment, and the opportunity to become involved in all
stages of project Structural design within a well established and well
respected organization of over 50 staff.
Working within a team, and with the appropriate level of support and
guidance, the successful candidate will start work on smaller projects,
with an emphasis on skills development and a steep learning curve. Once
settled, they will quickly start working independently on larger and
more challenging projects and after a period of time will be given the
opportunity to start co-ordinating small-scale projects on their own. As
the Engineer’s experience and confidence grows, the will become more
involved in client liaison as begin to manage larger projects. They will
be introduced to people management and given training and development to
move from skills-based work to strategic work. This developmental
structure will also support the achievement of Chartership status and
the successful candidate will be encouraged and supported, through an
established mentoring programme, to achieve a Chartered status.

successful candidate must be of the highest calibre. Whilst academic
qualifications are important, skills and attributes such as
problem-solving, communication, personal organisation and team-working
skills – together with the ability to work under pressure and to tight
deadlines – will significantly aid a candidate’s application.
Experience the UK construction industry, either through work experience
or as part of a degree course, would be an advantage. The successful
candidate will be expected to be computer literate and able to use
AutoCAD fluently. Experience in building services structural design work
and/or a familiarity with the use of industry-standard software packages
would also be an advantage.
