Qualified Quantity Surveyor
required for Oxford area by New Build Property Developer. Our client is
looking for an experience and RICS qualified Quantity Surveyor to work
from their Abingdon office.
The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting the Managing
Director in the preparation of budget build cost for proposed
developments for incorporation in build up of land acquisition tenders.
Further they will liaise with the Contracts Manager to assess the trade
requirements for each new project, produce a programme of works and
define a list of suitable subcontractors for each trade and investigate
their availability to carry out the work in accordance with the
programme. They will be required to prepare tender documents for each
trade including definition of contractual obligations; Evaluate the
tenders received and decide on the most suitable subcontractors; Issue
letter of intent / purchase orders to selected subcontractors and liaise
with the site agents to define the required start dates. Post contract,
the successful candidate will be required to attend site as necessary to
assess progress of the work for valuation purposes; negotiate and agree
variations and issue valuation payments; negotiate and agree final
accounts an issue final payments; prepare ongoing cost statements
comparing payments and anticipated costs to budget allowances.
They will be required to liaise with the buyer to incorporate the cost
of all materials, and report regularly to the Managing Director. Upon
completion of the project the successful candidate will be required to
prepare a final statement of the total build cost of the project with a
direct comparison to the initial budget included in the land acquisition
tender and justification of any significant differences.

Project Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor – Croydon - Ref:
BCJ1167
Based near Croydon, Surrey, our
client is a specialist sub contractor who undertakes work in the
utility, gas and civils sectors alongside main contractors, and they are
currently looking for a Project Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity
Surveyor.
They have been established for over 10 years, have an annual turn over
of around £15 million and are developing strongly. Their main office is
based in Sheffield and they undertake work throughout the UK and
occasionally abroad. They are very focused on the individual and they
have a good personal team working environment.
The successful project quantity surveyor will report directly back to
the senior management. As the project quantity surveyor the successful
candidate will oversee one other quantity surveyor and work mainly on a
range of commercial and mixed use developments to the value of around
£150million per year. These are multifaceted period contracts therefore
the successful candidate will be expected to handle 5/6 contracts at a
time. Duties on top of the standard quantity surveying role will
include; applications, invoices, local claims, contractual issues and
experience of these areas is a must. In addition experience of standard
method of measurement would be advantageous. Core requirements for the
post include a minimum of 6 years quantity surveying experience in a
Building Services environment; Sub-contractor / contractor experience
and either a BSc or HND in Quantity Surveying or related subject.
