Space Planner – London - Ref: BCJ9086
Experienced Space Planner with Commercial space planning experience is required by young dynamic central London practice.
Our client is looking to recruit an experienced space planner to join their central London studio. This is a young vibrant practice, with 5 in-house designers and an established and fast growing client base. Our client aims to produce forward thinking and sustainable design solutions utilising the creative and lateral thinking of its design team. Candidates looking for a 9-5 position requiring limited imagination would not be suited to this position.
With a minimum of 5 years experience of commercial space planning the successful candidate will be required to work on a variety of interesting projects. Proficiency in the use of AutoCAD is essential, as is strong design skill with a flair for layouts. Good client communication skills and self motivation are vital to succeed in this role. The successful candidate will report to the Studio Director and work closely with the architects and designers to make sure space planning requirements of clients are met, addressing all statutory regulations. They will liaising with clients to plan space strategy and produce office floor plans layout and schedules for works.
The successful candidate will be able to manage and implement the workplace changes, monitor quality assurance and meet tight deadlines throughout the lifetime of the project. They will maintain effective communication with, architects, designers, design team members, project managers, and clients to obtain and relay information concerning cost and status of projects. They will work with diverse stakeholders to achieve consensus, handle multiple projects, work effectively with multidisciplinary staff and clients, work independently and as part of team and able to assist in the development in junior members of the team. While the balance of different activities will vary according to the kind of projects on which they are working the following are typical of the work required: Meeting with clients and other involved professionals at an early stage to agree the project brief; Management of master space planning and space data management; Analyse space utilisation effectiveness and changing demands for space needs and recommend actions to meet new requirements; Produce examples of office layouts and office furniture layouts UK as part of our customer interior design service commercial; Understand how the space planning design of the project influences and relates to performance and functional issues, so that practical questions can be addressed at an early stage; Evaluate environmental, legal and regulatory issues and advising on these; Contribute to warrant applications and other regulatory application procedures; Assess what surveys are required before work can commence and ensuring such surveys are undertaken and their results fed into the project; Develop project briefs and working on these as the project progresses; Prepare and presenting space planning proposals using computer aided design (CAD) and traditional drawing methods; lead the detailed space planning process and co-ordinating planning information; Liaise with appropriate authorities when producing documentation for statutory approval, eg planning enquiries, building inspectors, etc; Work alongside surveyors and other members of the design team to establish budgets, programs and coordination of services. Provide, analysing and advising on detailed specifications for suitable materials or processes to be used in construction; Carry out design stage risk assessments; Monitor the progress and quality of contractors work, while keeping the client up to date; Carry out contract administration and project certifications; Carry out snagging of completed work; Prepare decant methodology to allow move sequences to be agreed; Monitor quality of relocations and obtain feedback on work in progress and finished results from clients.
