Experienced Interior
Designer/Space Planner required for central London position. Our client
specializes in the design and supervision of the construction and
redevelopment of commercial building interiors. With an extensive client
portfolio and many years within the Interior Design industry, our client
can offer an opportunity to join an established and recognized
organisation. The successful candidate will be required to undertake the
following tasks: Develop effective designs that are functional and
aesthetically pleasing and fulfil the technical and logistic
requirements of the brief; Prepare working drawings and specifications
for the interior construction and for materials, finishes, space
planning, lighting, furnishings and equipment and so on. They will also
be required to estimate costs of materials, labour and time, and give
estimates to clients for approval; They will be required to speak with
clients and architects in order to work out client needs and desires,
and to make sure that any and all safety requirements are met; They will
be required to organise supplies and prepare detailed instructions for
any trades people involved in the project. Following this, they will be
required to inspect the work of suppliers and trades people, and monitor
and detail time, cost and quality controls; They will be required to
prepare and present tenders and contract documents; They will be
required to work with specialists in technical areas concerned with fire
safety, hydraulic systems, and mechanical, electrical and structural
design associated with the project, and they should make sure that any
and all industry regulations are met.
The successful candidate will require a sound understanding of building
construction, special awareness, lighting, colour and furniture. They
should also have an artistic flair, be able to work as part of a team,
be able to work independently, be good at problem-solving and lateral
thinking, have excellent written and oral communication skills and have
an aptitude for technical drawing and illustration.
Candidates will be required to identify, research and creatively solve
problems arising through the design process. They will also be required
to complete tasks associated with interior special design, including
production of documentation on the appropriate industry software
(AutoCAD and Vectorworks), design analysis, space planning and
aesthetics, using up to date knowledge of interior construction, UK
building and planning regulations, equipment, materials and furnishings.
A constant desire to retain up to date knowledge of all information
pertaining to Interior Design should be a fundamental part of how the
candidate operates.
During preliminary design stages, the successful candidate will be
required to establish the particular needs and desires of the client.
Some of these may be physical, such as effective use of space and
fulfilling the practical needs of the client, or they may be emotional
in nature and involve colour, texture, mood and ambience as indicated by
the personality of the user or users.
The nature of the role may also encompass, energy conservation and use
of sustainable products or projects of historic. The successful
candidate should also be prepared to make provision for disabled use or
adaptation to meet other specific needs dependent upon the requirements
of the client. Competency in drafting or CAD skills, the skilful
presentation of work, plus enthusiasm and a desire to learn will be

Interior Designer – London - Ref: BCJ0395
Our client, based in Central
London is an award-winning concept-driven Interior Design Consultancy,
who are seeking a talented Interior Designer who has achieved an
accredited Bachelor or Masters of Architecture or Interior Design
degree. The successful should also have a minimum of 3 years UK industry
experience in the Interior Design industry, ideally with some experience
of UK Leisure projects.
This position will require the successful candidate to work
collaboratively within a project team to bring a project from concept to
completion. Responsibilities include assisting in the interiors
specifications portion of projects including sourcing, organising and
assembling architectural specification packages, whilst ensuring
adherence to all current UK building and planning regulations and
recognizing the practical requirements of the client group. The
successful candidate will clearly communicate design ideas through
freehand sketching and rendering and will assist in compiling a set of
interior design documents which include, but are not limited to,
material specifications, furniture design and specifications and other
pertinent detailing. Applicants should be a self-starters, detail
oriented, organised and creative. They will be required to express their
ideas both visually and verbally. The nature of this job may require
non-traditional hours and as such a flexible approach to working is
essential.
Candidates must be fully proficient in AutoCAD 2006; some knowledge of
3D Studio Max would be an advantage but not is required. Our client is
